Needham teenager dies after his pickup truck crashed into a guardrail in Vermont

A 17-year-old boy from Needham died Sunday when the pickup truck he was driving left the road and crashed into a tree in rural Shrewbury, Vt., authorities said.

Macy Piersiak was driving a 2019 Ram 1500 when she crossed the center line on Cold River Road, striking a guardrail and then a tree, Vermont State Police said Monday.

The statement stated that Piersiak died at the scene.

According to the release, officers responded to reports of a crash near Upper Cold River Road at 4:06 a.m.

Investigators determined that Piersiak, who was alone in the vehicle, was heading south when he lost control of the truck, the statement said.

Regional Ambulance Service and Shrewsbury and Rutland Fire also provided assistance to the scene, authorities said.

The investigation into the accident continues.
