A heartbroken bride and groom reevaluate their friendship after almost no one shows up for their wedding.

The wedding invitations asked for guests to arrive at 1 p.m., but at 1:15 p.m., Kalina’s mother sent her a message saying no one had arrived yet. The bride and groom waited until 14:00 to enter the venue, which was prepared for 40 RSVPs, but when they entered, there were only five people.

“We enter the venue and there is no one there… I dreamed that I would enter a group of people cheering for us. Those who were shouting and booing for us in celebration,” Kalina wrote, eventually walking away into silence and empty chairs. “But all you see is a woman trying to pull herself together because she has NO idea how to deal with her place being almost completely empty.”

Kalina and Shane got engaged on Christmas Day 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic “hit the world and shut down everything.” Therefore, wedding planning was postponed until this year. When the couple of nine years announced their wedding date in January, they looked forward to the day they had always dreamed of, but it turned into a nightmare.

“All the wasted food and drink. All the empty tables and chairs. Every moment of my reception changed to accommodate,” Kalina continued.

But she wasn’t going to let her absent guests ruin her special day. He wrote that they are still making the most of it, he shares animated dance videos And positive moments from the reception.

“All I really need is my little group,” Kalina wrote in the caption of another TikTok video. “And now I truly know who was there for me and who wasn’t. I will be forever grateful that so many people were able to see the entrance I’ve been dreaming of for so long.”

She added of the first and only wedding dance she shared with Shane: “We told each other that we were all we needed and we were the ones against the world.”

Many people commenting on TikTok were confused as to why so many people decided not to attend what they knew was a very important day for the Oregon-based couple. Some even questioned whether there was another side to the story.

Thousands of TikTok users tried to lighten the mood by praising Kalina for how beautiful she looked in her wedding dress and stating that they would love to attend a re-do of the wedding for the couple.

The top comment, which received more than 16,500 likes, read: “NO, RENEW THIS. WE’RE ALL SHOWING IT.”

Another comment, with more than 15,000 likes, said: “Let’s do it again. This time invite me and the rest of us. We will come and go. I love you beautiful and congratulations!!”

A week after the wedding, Kalina shared an update on another page video She said she and her husband “are still a little embarrassed and still going through stages of grief” and are “still dealing with anger.”

“I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy,” he said.
