AUGUSTA COUNTY, Virginia (WHSV) – At least one person was injured in an early morning crash Sunday involving two tractor trailers on Interstate 81.

According to Augusta County Fire Rescue, the crash occurred at approximately 4:20 Sunday morning near mile marker 228 at the north end of I-81. A motorist was found trapped when ACFR units arrived, with support from the Weyers Cave Volunteer Fire Company and the Verona Volunteer Fire Company. First responders removed the trapped driver from the trailer and flew him to UVA Medical Center, ACFR said in a Facebook post.

One lane opened on I-81 around 7:50 Sunday morning, according to VSP.
