The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards sends a message to: Teddi Mellencamp in the middle of breaking up with him Edwin Arroyave.

“He can lean on me no matter what time of the night and come to my door whenever he wants,” Richards, 55, said. People Mellencamp, 43, said in an interview published on Monday (November 11). “He watched me go through this and he knows. So I think you should just focus on your kids… You should quiet the noise.”

Richards added that he “openly” talks to Mellencamp “all the time” and knows his old friend. RHOBH Costar was going through a “difficult” time.

“Obviously it’s sad no matter what,” Richards said. “And unfortunately I can offer some advice for going through this in the public eye.”

Richards leaving Mauricio Umansky after 27 years of marriage July 2023 also touched on how separations affect children. (Richards and Umansky, 54, share daughters Alexia, 28, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16. Kyle is also mom to Farrah Aldjufrie, 36.)

“It doesn’t matter if the kids are little or adults,” Richards said. “Even though my daughters are grown, they struggled a lot with our separation.”

Us Weekly Mellencamp confirmed divorce case filed Arroyave, 47, was quoted as saying on November 1, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation. He listed his departure dates as October 20, about two weeks before his application.

Mellencamp announced the news on his Instagram account, a day after filing for divorce. “After much care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” Mellencamp wrote. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every consideration is given to their privacy and well-being in this new era.”

Mellencamp and Arroyave, who married in 2011, share children Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 4. (Arroyave is also the father of daughter Isabella from a previous relationship.)

“It wasn’t something I wanted to make public, but I felt that being open, honest, and vulnerable was the best way forward in order to protect my family from unnecessary speculation and rumors,” he wrote.
