Pedro Neto scored a fine equalizer but Chelsea and Arsenal fell further behind Premier League leaders Liverpool in an entertaining draw at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal are winless in their last five matches in all competitions, as they now sit ninth after starting the weekend on seven.

The visitors opened the scoring when Gabriel Martinelli collected the returning Martin Odegaard’s cross at the back post and then headed the ball towards Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez’s near post.

Chelsea’s equalizer was deserved. Neto ran onto Enzo Fernandez’s pass and then cut inside and fired a powerful low left-foot shot past David Raya’s diving header.

England winger Bukayo Saka was substituted late with an injury as both sides struggled to create winning chances.

Arsenal came closest but Leandro Trossard failed to direct William Saliba’s cross goalwards from six yards, a second before referee Michael Oliver cleared the ball for full-time.

Chelsea lost once in their last 10 matches and played like a team full of confidence.

Cole Palmer set the tone when his long-range strike was canceled out by Raya before Malo Gusto curled a good chance over the bar from close range.

Martinelli had a good chance in the first half before Kai Havertz’s strike was disallowed for offside.
