The patient in the water tank of Nebbi hospital died

An unidentified patient was found dead after falling into a water tank at Nebbi Hospital in northern Uganda.
Hospital administrator Mr Christopher Ongom said the patient was taken to the facility unconscious by the police last night before being taken to the emergency room.
It was reported that he escaped from the ward this morning and was later found dead in the water tank.

According to Ongom, the patient fell into a water-filled tank with an estimated capacity of 20,000 litres, mounted on a retaining wall below the ground surface.
After the mass attack on the alleged theft, the patient was taken to hospital by the police.

“The patient was brought to the facility by the police at midnight and taken to the emergency room because he had bruises all over his body. However, after regaining some consciousness, he escaped from the unit and was found dead in the water tank. “We reported the situation to the police and the body was removed,” he said.
The hospital’s security guard, Mr Ethan Omirambe, said he heard water splashing towards the emergency room.
“I immediately reported the incident to my boss, who then instructed me to go to the police the same night to report the same incident,” Omirambe said.

Regional Police Commander Mr Filbert Waibi said they were waiting for relatives to receive the body.
“We removed the body from the hospital’s water tank and handed it over to the hospital management, waiting for relatives to come and identify the body,” Waibi said.
This is the first time such a case has been reported in the hospital.
