Empress Ciku Kimani will launch her fifth book at the age of 50

Nairobian columnist Empress Ciku Kimani-Mwaniki is set to launch her fifth book at the end of the month. The book, which will be released in November, coincides with his 50th birthday, hence the hashtag #The5thAt50.

The book, whose name is still secret, will be published by Mvua Press, an imprint of E-kitabu.

Ciku pushes the boundaries by humanizing the so-called outcasts of society and basing their love story on them. In his books, prostitutes and ex-criminals fell in love.

With her fifth book, Ciku pushes the boundaries a little more by writing detective-romance novels.

“This underground Nairobi, its inhabitants, and does love even exist there? “The heroes include a crime boss, two undercover cops, a priest, a brothel madam and, you guessed it, a prostitute.”

He says the launch will be a fun-filled event.

“There will be music, food, drink and live performance,” he adds.

His other books are Nairobi Cocktail, Immigrant Cocktail, Cocktail from the Savanna and Cocktail of Unexpected Stories.
