Female artists are set to dominate the MTV Europe Music Awards

The 30th edition of the ceremony, which brings together the biggest names in world music, starts at 20:00 (2000 GMT) in the city’s new Co-op Live hall.

British singer Rita Ora will host the award ceremony, which will be held for the seventh time in England.

10 of the 11 most nominated artists are women; megastar Taylor Swift leads the way.

The American, whose ongoing “Eras” tour is the most lucrative in history, was nominated in seven categories this year following the release of his 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

She will compete in the Best Artist category with Beyonce, Eilish, male rapper Post Malone and British star Raye, who won a record six gongs at this year’s Brit Awards.

Rounding out the nominations was Sabrina Carpenter, one of the stars of the summer with her hit “Please Please Please.”

Best Song: “Birds of a Feather” by Eilish, “Espresso” by Carpenter, “Texas Hold ‘Em” by Beyonce, “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone, “Good” by Chappell Roan Luck, Babe!” and “We Can’t Be” are among the songs. Friends” by Ariana Grande.

Rising female stars in other categories include Lisa from ultra-popular K-pop group Blackpink and Nigerian star Ayra Starr.

As is the case with the U.S. music industry’s Grammy awards, Latin artists, including stars like Puerto Rican Bad Bunny and Colombia’s Karol G, were left out of the top categories this year despite their worldwide hits.

Both of them were included in the Best Latin category, as well as Shakira, who revived her career with the hit song “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”, about her breakup with former football player Gerard Pique.

Other artists nominated for the award include Travis Scott, Dua Lipa and Charli XCX, who was nominated in four categories. Busta Rhymes will receive the global icon award.

This is the first time since 2022 that the MTV Europe Music Awards, which were to be held near Paris last year, were canceled due to the war between Israel and Hamas.
