Updated College Football Playoff Predictions Shake Up After Exciting Week 11

Saturday madness has become the rule, not the exception, this college football season.

It was the same again this week, as more upsets rocked the college football world and the College Football Playoff picture became increasingly blurry despite being a week closer to the postseason.

As the Rebels look to earn a spot in the CFP, No. 16 Ole Miss defeated No. 3 Georgia in the biggest upset of the day.

No. 4 seed Miami eventually fell from the unbeaten bracket, only to find itself losing 28-23 to Georgia Tech.

And BYU came back to score the second-last goal to beat Holy War rival Utah.

So what does this crazy weekend mean for the College Football Playoff?

Here’s my final College Football Playoff projection after another crazy weekend of games.

Just a friendly reminder before we get started; This is based on what I think will happen with what has already happened during the college football season.

There are big changes at the top this week.

While Georgia’s loss to Ole Miss makes the path to the SEC Championship game even tougher, it’s hard not to see Texas as having the most manageable path right now.

The ACC is in bad shape right now, but despite the loss, Miami still remains the best bet. But the ACC’s chances of getting a second bid took a big hit with the Hurricanes’ loss at Georgia Tech.

BYU came just seconds after suffering its first loss, dropping to perhaps No. 12 in the forecast. Instead he sneaks by and wins, retaining the top four spots and the bye that comes with it.

Oregon football celebrates goal against Maryland

Oregon remains undefeated after getting past Maryland fairly easily on Saturday. The Ducks are currently the No. 1 seed, but I would still pick Ohio State in a rematch like the Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis.

Penn State got a lot of love from the CFP committee this week as it was ranked sixth. It’s hard to see the Nittany Lions going down because the remaining schedule is so good.

Meanwhile, Georgia is holding on to its home game despite the loss at Ole Miss, but that’s partly because I don’t predict it will beat Tennessee next week.

Notre Dame continues to destroy everything in its path since the Northern Illinois debacle, defeating Florida State 52-3.

Alabama celebrates goal in stunning LS victory

Tennessee’s win over Alabama carries the weight of remaining atop the Crimson Tide despite Alabama dominance at LSU.

Indiana suffered its biggest scare of the season on Saturday when Michigan struggled in all four quarters. What can the Hoosiers do on their trip to Ohio State next week?

BYU’s win saved it from possibly falling to No. 12 and Boise State from possibly moving up to No. 4. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Boise State move up in the rankings, but as of right now, playing Boise State close isn’t enough to put them past any of the Power Four contenders.

Nick Shepkowski’s Quick Thought:

If you need a reminder of how important insemination is, take a look at how it happens. Penn State’s sixth-seed means it will get a home game against Indiana and a neutral-site game against a deeply flawed Miami team.

If you’re a Notre Dame fan, you’re hoping the Irish can break into the top six and break into such a pattern.
