Red Swing Coffee expands with west side location, opens Monday

Brandon and Brittany Dukes, the husband-and-wife team behind Red Swing Coffee, will open a second location on Owensboro’s west side on Monday.

Red Swing Coffee West will be located at 2803 West Parrish Boulevard. The expansion comes two years after the downtown store opened at 112 Allen Street in May 2022.

The original Red Swing Coffee has quickly become a local favorite, known for its gourmet coffee, specialty drinks and innovative breakfast and lunch options, Dukes said. They attribute their success to their determination to create a warm environment.

“We wanted to create a complete experience for every customer in an environment where they walk in and know they are seen,” Brittany said.

The new west side location offers a spacious 7,000-square-foot building with ample parking and easy access from anywhere in the city. The interior has a bright, modern design with a variety of seating arrangements, including group areas and quiet corners for studying or working.

“This place is for everyone,” Brittany added.

One notable addition is the “Acacia Room,” a versatile event space the couple named for the durable acacia tree that Brandon says has biblical significance. The room can accommodate up to 100 people and is equipped with internet access and casting features.

He said it’s suitable for a variety of events, from birthday parties to corporate meetings. You can find information about renting the Acacia Room on their website. Here.

Red Swing Coffee West’s menu will reflect downtown offerings, including coffee and food favorites, with additional takeout options such as breakfast pastries, scones and muffins. The Dukes are also considering offering additional desserts to appeal to local tastes.

The couple’s hands-on approach to building the new space is reflected in every detail, from design choices to hiring decisions. Their team has doubled in size, and Brittany notes the importance of a supportive, values-driven team as they move into this new phase.

The Dukes undertook much of the redevelopment of Red Swing Coffee West themselves, investing many hours to transform the space into a welcoming place for the community. They handled nearly every detail, from painting to fixture installation, calling in the family and a few contractors only for special tasks.

Brittany expressed gratitude for the journey and the community support that came with it, sharing that their faith played a key role in guiding them through the hard work and challenges of opening the new location.

“I truly believe Jesus put us on this path for a reason,” Brittany said. “Every step of the way, we felt happy and motivated to create something meaningful, and we are so grateful to see it all come together.”

The new location is located just off Parrish Boulevard, on the same side as UHaul, at the intersection of Carter Road.

Through this expansion, they aim to continue building a community-focused space in Owensboro.

“We believe in big dreams,” Brandon said. “Whether through our coffee or our space, we want others to be inspired to follow their own dreams.”
