St Joseph’s Church stabbing: Parishioners shaken but unable to stop attending Sunday service

Another congregation member, Ms Lisa Tan, heard about what happened from her parents who attended the evening service.

The 26-year-old engineer, who has attended the church since birth, said the church came together to pray for Father Lee’s recovery.

“Father Chris is known to be very kind and overall he is a very caring priest, so I think everyone is saddened to see him injured,” he said.

One of the congregation members shaken by this ordeal was Mrs. Joseph.

The 50-year-old man, who wanted to be identified only by his surname, said the community came together despite difficult times.

Although the software engineer was not at the Saturday evening service, he heard about the incident through messages from other church members.

“It was quite shocking, I would say we’re still in shock… we just need to be strong,” he said, with visible emotion.

He added that he had spoken to Father Lee personally several times during the five years he attended church with his family.

“We just pray and hope everything gets back to normal.”
