AFC play-off picture

1. Kansas City Chiefs 8-0 (first, AFC West): The Chiefs are on track to return to first place and home-field advantage with a bye into the playoffs, where the biggest obstacle remaining on their second-half schedule is the Bills.

2. Buffalo Bills 7-2 (first place, AFC East): The Bills are in position to clinch their fifth straight AFC East title and will look to put more pressure on the Chiefs while keeping some tough teams behind them.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers 6-2 (first place, AFC North): The Steelers have a half-game lead over the Ravens, who opened Week 10 with a win over the Bengals. The Steelers need to beat the Commanders on Sunday to stay at the top of the league.

4. Houston Texans 6-3 (first, AFC South): The Texans hold a strong two-game lead over the Colts, whom they have beaten twice, and are poised to cruise to their second straight division title. They also have a chance to advance by beating the Bills.

5. Baltimore Ravens 7-3 (second place, AFC North): The Ravens may not be in first place after Thursday’s win if the Steelers also prevail, but regardless, they have a critical direct shot at their arch-rivals in Pittsburgh in Week 11.

6. Los Angeles Chargers 5-3 (second place, AFC West): The Chargers continue to beat the team they need to beat to improve their strong playoff chances in Jim Harbaugh’s first season as coach. The Titans, who host in Week 10, fall into this group before hosting the Bengals in Week 11.

7. Denver Broncos 5-4 (third place, AFC West): The Broncos are hanging on to their final playoff spot after losing at Baltimore in Week 9. Their chances are improving rapidly as they play at Kansas City in Week 10.

Who’s on the hunt?

  • 8. Indianapolis Colts 4-5 (second place, AFC South)
  • 9. Cincinnati Bengals 4-6 (third place, AFC North)

Of those two teams right behind the Broncos, the Bengals are still better equipped to make a late run despite the loss in Week 10 because they have a huge quarterback advantage in Joe Burrow and could be an MVP if he makes the playoffs. After an 0-3 start.

Who’s left?

  • 10. New York Jets 3-6 (second place, AFC East)
  • 11. Tennessee Titans 2-6 (third place, AFC South)
  • 12. Miami Dolphins 2-6 (third place, AFC East)
  • 13. Cleveland Browns 2-7 (fourth, AFC North)
  • 14. Jacksonville Jaguars 2-7 (fourth place, AFC South)
  • 15. Las Vegas Raiders 2-7 (fourth, AFC West)
  • 16. New England Patriots 2-7 (fourth place, AFC East)

NFC playoff picture

Kirk Cousins

1. Detroit Lions 7-1 (first place, NFC North): The Lions hold this position with home field advantage and a lone bye by half a game against the Commanders, who have played more games entering the 10th week. They will try to stay ahead with a tough test in Texas on Sunday. night.

2. Washington Commanders 7-2 (first place, NFC East): The Commanders see themselves as strong NFC title contenders and could take the top spot with a home win against the Steelers and a road loss to the Lions. They can also work harder on a division title when they play at Philadelphia on Thursday in Week 11.

3. Atlanta Falcons 6-3 (first place, NFC South): The Falcons are 4-0 in the league and head into the South with a two-game lead over the Buccaneers, whom they have already defeated this season. At least they look great for this team that is on the verge of breaking out of the league thanks to a major point guard upgrade in Kirk Cousins.

4. Arizona Cardinals 5-4 (first place, NFC West): The Cardinals have a precarious half-game lead over the Rams and 49ers, who are tied for second place at 4-4. We’re just one game behind the last-place Seahawks, who had a bye in Week 10.

5. Minnesota Vikings 6-2 (second place, NFC North): The Vikings remain behind the Lions in the division standings but can continue to solidify their NFC wild-card position with an expected road win against the Jaguars on Sunday.

6. Philadelphia Eagles 6-2 (second place, NFC East): The Eagles are a half-game behind the Commanders, and although Week 10 is open for both teams, their Week 11 opener in Philadelphia will set the tone for who will win the division.

7. Green Bay Packers 6-3 (third place, NFC North): The Packers were turned away at home against the Lions in Week 9 and badly needed a Week 10 bye to bounce back. There is another major league road game against the Bears in Week 11.

Who’s on the hunt?

  • 8. Chicago Bears 4-4 (fourth, NFC North)
  • 9. Los Angeles Rams 4-4 (second place, NFC West)
  • 10. San Francisco 49ers 4-4 (third place, NFC West)
  • 11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4-5 (second place, NFC South)
  • 12. Seattle Seahawks 4-5 (fourth, NFC West)
  • 13. Dallas Cowboys 3-5 (third place, NFC East)

The Bears are quickly slimming down as a wild-card hopeful in a tough league, while there’s probably room for the Rams or the 49ers coming from the West. The Buccaneers and Seahawks have little margin for error moving forward. The Cowboys look cooked after losing Dak Prescott for weeks.

Who’s left?

  • 14. Carolina Panthers 2-7 (third place, NFC South)
  • 15. New Orleans Saints 2-7 (fourth, NFC South)
  • 16. New York Giants 2-7 (fourth, NFC East)

The Panthers and Giants will try to play a respectable game in Week 10 in Germany and one to come away from the vault. The Saints could be on a fast track there with all their injuries following the firing of coach Dennis Allen.
