What happens after election day at the Mesa County Elections Office?

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -Tuesday was election day where county, state and federal issues were voted on. For the general public, the day after the election means a return to daily duties, but for Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Bobbie Gross, that is far from reality.

“We have to go around the valley and clear out nine voter service employee centers,” Gross said.

The day after the election is a clean-up day to ensure supplies are organized and polling stations are removed. The election office then verifies that all vote counts match and begins sending letters to those with signature differences.

“When there are signature differences, we send them out fast and furious for election day,” he adds.

The office doesn’t close its doors when this year’s election duties are completed.

“We’re always working on the next election,” Gross said.

Currently, the office is preparing for the April 8 municipal election in Grand Junction. On this date, residents will vote for City Council.
