Former Paris Saint-Germain winger Jerome Rothen blamed Kylian Mbappe for Real Madrid’s poor start to the season.

Rothen claimed that Mbappe’s presence caused disappointment in other players at Real Madrid.

According to him, since Mbappe’s arrival as a free agent from PSG, some players have taken on different roles or even lost fame.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Rothen said: “Mbappé was the star of the summer. Real Madrid won everything last season with a strong team and proven players on the pitch.

“But I feel like all of that is lost.

“Kylian has become the focal point of this situation, and his presence is causing disappointment for some. Other actors have taken on different roles or even lost fame.

“There’s obviously an adjustment period when changing teams, but if you’re among the best players in the world it needs to happen quickly.”

Real Madrid currently sits second in the LaLiga standings, six points behind leaders Barcelona.
