Lebanon announced that 2 of the 7 people killed in Israeli attacks on Tire were children

Lebanon’s health ministry said on Saturday that seven people, including two children, were killed in Israeli attacks on the southern city of Tire a day ago, and that rescue teams were still searching for missing people under the rubble.

“He killed seven people, including two girls, and injured 46 people in his attacks on the Israeli city of Tire,” the ministry said, adding that body parts were found and “they will be identified through DNA testing.”

It was also stated that rubble was cleared after the attacks as part of ongoing efforts to find missing persons.

The ministry reported on Friday that the death toll in the attacks was three and 30 people were injured.

AFP photos showed rescuers carrying bodies on stretchers amid the rubble in Tire, with rubble and twisted metal strewn across the street.

Earlier on Saturday, Lebanon’s official National News Agency said the deadly attacks targeted three buildings in the coastal city, causing “major damage to dozens of houses”.

NNA also said “enemy warplanes” destroyed two historic houses in the southern city of Nabatiyeh.

Israel intensified its air strike on Lebanon in September and sent troops after a year of cross-border conflict.

This follows nearly a year of low-intensity cross-border attacks in support of Hezbollah’s Palestinian ally Hamas, following the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel that triggered the Gaza war.

More than 3,110 people have been killed in Lebanon since cross-border contacts between Israel and Hezbollah began last year, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
