The history of the tradition dates back to 2004 That’s when Guido D’Elia, Penn State’s then director of brand and communications, came up with a campaign to mobilize students after a few stagnant seasons in the early 2000s. What started in the student section grew to include all fans when everyone in Beaver Stadium wore white during Penn State’s 31-10 victory over Notre Dame in 2007.
