Police say a Minnesota man killed his two sons, his wife and his ex-partner, then killed himself

A Minnesota man shot and killed his wife, son, former partner and sons, then killed himself, police said.

DULUTH, Minn. A Minnesota man shot and killed his wife, son, former partner and their son before killing himself, authorities said Friday.

Duluth police have not determined a motive for the incident, but Police Chief Mike Ceynowa said at a news conference that the gunman, 46-year-old Anthony Nephew, had “mental health issues.”

Police said officers were first called to a home Thursday after 2 p.m. They found Erin Abramson, 47, and Jacob Nephew, 15, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Abramson and Anthony Nephew were previously in a relationship, Ceynowa said.

Later Thursday, police identified Anthony Nephew as a suspect and surrounded his home. Once inside, officers found the bodies of him, his wife, Kathryn Nephew, 45, and their 7-year-old son, Oliver Nephew.

Police say Anthony Nephew apparently shot himself.

Duluth, a city of about 90,000, is about 135 miles (217 kilometers) north of Minneapolis.
