Police will block streets and exit ramps for WSSU events

Winston-Salem police will close two streets and two freeway exit ramps on Saturday for Winston-Salem State University’s graduation ceremony, football game and other events, officials said.

Police at Fifth Street and Martin Luther King Jr. He said Research Parkway between Drive will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. King Drive between Patterson Boulevard and Rams Drive will also be closed.

The exit ramps from US 52 and Salem Parkway to King Drive will also be closed during the same period, police said.

“This will result in visible traffic disruptions in the areas of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Research Parkway and Innovation Quarter,” police said.

The Fayetteville State Broncos will play the WSSU Rams in a football game at Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Drivers can expect heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic around Bowman Gray Stadium between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Winston-Salem police will direct traffic.

Police said motorists passing through these areas are encouraged to seek alternative routes.

Citizens living in the region need to plan alternative routes.

Police said that no vehicles will be allowed to pass on the closed roads.
