A woman documented her ‘new’ mattress in horror story on Facebook Marketplace in a series of viral videos with millions of views.

Customer buys ‘new’ mattress

In the first video, tiktok User Rose (@rosek292) shared the following in the text post: “I felt something in my son’s bed. Guess what we found.” Her boyfriend cut a small hole in the side of the bed.

Tear a larger opening using the tip of a pair of scissors. When the hole was large enough, he pulled out a black lighter. “What is (expletive)?” the content creator gasped in utter disbelief.

After her boyfriend tested it, a flame appeared and he was horrified. “So does it work?” This situation confused the couple. “But I don’t know how they put it in,” the boyfriend replies. “How? Maybe their lighter accidentally fell in there while they were doing this,” Rose suggested, assuming that an employee of the mattress manufacturer’s lighter had fallen in there.

@rosek292 I felt something weird on my 3 year old’s bed and cut off a small piece to see what it was, it was lighter but there is no zipper on the entire bed. How can this happen!!??#bed ♬ original audio – RoseK

The couple investigates further

After unearthing the lighter from the soil, the couple explored the bed further. “We’re opening it to the outside in case there’s fiberglass inside,” he explained in text overlay.

Rose’s boyfriend then finished cutting off one end of the bed with scissors and opening it with his hands. “Is there anything there?” he asked, looking inside. When he pulled out the first layer of the mattress and the foam, there was a stained mattress underneath.

“It’s an old bed with stains and stuff. It was a new bed!” he shouted. The creator zoomed in on the brown stains under the foam and on the old mattress. “Look at these stains. What the hell? It’s crazy that someone would be sleeping on this.”

@rosek292 We wanted to see if there was anything else inside the bed and I had been reading about how some beds are refurbished so we wanted to take a look. Either way we were going to get rid of the bed because it was extremely uncomfortable. I was very surprised at how dirty the bed was…..and they put a new cover on it. I bought this bed new about a year ago and we recently took the plastic off. #bed ♬ original audio – RoseK

A refurbished bed?

However, the situation continued to evolve. “What does he say?” Rose asked, noticing a label on the bottom of the bed that said “Orthopaedic”.

“This is a different label than the external label,” he surmises. To confirm this, he revealed its outer label: “Premium Best Posture Support.”

The creator then revealed more stains on the bottom layer of the mattress. “Look at these stains! And it’s a new bed! But the “new” bed was an old, refurbished bed tucked into a zippered sheet.”

What are stains?

But Rose’s concerns don’t end there. “Is this blood? It looks like blood!” he said as he went over the stains. The content creator then turned his attention to the bed’s interior.

“Is there anything there?” he asked, examining the springs. Fortunately, the couple does not find anything strange inside or anywhere else.

Since a viewer suggested pouring peroxide on the stain, the content creator put it to the test. bubbling shows a bloodstain. To his relief, she didn’t react.

@rosek292 Replying to @Mama Bee Episode 5 I’ll try to post another video explaining where I got it from and why I opened it. If there is anything else please let me know #question.#bed ♬ original audio – RoseK

Viewers were horrified by the bed

“A refurbished bed is a crazy job,” one viewer wrote.

“New fear unlocked,” a second commented.

“This video left me speechless. I’ve never heard of a refurbished mattress, it must be specified when purchased!” a third stated.

“People drive me SO crazy…. Ooooo I hate people so much SOHHHHHH,” remarked a fourth.

What drove Rose to tear up the bed?

In an update, Rose shared what led to this. “The mattress I bought on Facebook Marketplace was completely new,” he recalled. “My son starts sleeping on the bed and I notice something on the bed. Her boyfriend was actually the one who suggested ripping it open. “Then I told my boyfriend about it and he said we should broach the subject.”

See, that’s how he found the lighter. “So a lighter was born,” the creator said. Following suggestions from viewers, Rose decided to examine the rest of the bed. “Some people in the comments were talking about fiberglass. And I said, ‘I don’t want my son to use this anymore.’ “Others said there could be more. And I said, ‘You know what? “Let’s take it out, let’s open it.”

“You saw this too. “It’s a used mattress,” he added. Unfortunately, Rose tried to reach the seller to no avail. “I’m also trying to find the person who sold it to me, but I can’t find that person anywhere in my messages,” he said. “Maybe they blocked me or deleted their Facebook, I don’t know.” So what did the content creator make of the bed? “It will be thrown away and my son will buy a new bed,” he concluded.
