Springfield, Ill. (WICS) — Months after the City of Springfield passed a 1 a.m. bar curfew, the Curve Inn in the village of Southern View has reached a settlement with the village board.

The Curve Inn will be the only bar near Springfield to be open until 3 a.m. in 2025, and a new agreement at the most recent village board meeting will keep the bar open after 1 a.m. but closed at 2 a.m.

In an interaction on Curve Inn’s Facebook page, village board trustee Nate Briggs expressed his thoughts on the compromise reached between the village, the community and the business community.

Briggs writes: “In my opinion, this was a win for the entire Village. Thank you guys for all your efforts to keep people safe while having a good time or working their shifts. Thank you for being reasonable in your requests and expectations. Thank you for expressing this.” Thank you for your concerns and your work with local law enforcement for running a highly successful historic business in our village.”

Calls for the pub to be closed as soon as possible stemmed from the police response to disturbances, two stabbings and five reports of people with guns between January 2023 and March 2024.
