West Seattle couple’s mobile bakery truck stolen ahead of critical holiday season

A couple’s mobile bakery truck was stolen from their driveway in West Seattle.

Emily and Drew Crain are the owners of a small pop-up cake shop called ‘Lovely and Dapper Desserts’. They said their 2006 Chevy Tahoe was stolen on Oct. 26, and with the holidays approaching, the timing couldn’t have been worse.

“Not having that happen was worse than getting punched in the stomach. It’s inexplicable,” Drew said.

The couple said they have been operating their small business for the past three years, selling small personal cupcakes at farmers markets, holiday markets, festivals and catering services throughout Seattle.

“We’ve had to say no to events because we only have one vehicle and it’s a small vehicle, so we can’t transport that many cakes,” Emily said.

They shared with KOMO News that the bakery truck is crucial to their business and main source of income. He added that they purchased it with the hope of growing and being present in more markets.

“She carries all the cakes we need for our events, as well as our tent, table, and all the other supplies,” Emily said.

Emily said not having a truck was a huge setback with the holidays coming up, including their biggest event, the Seattle Christmas Market.

“This is the biggest month of the entire year, so that’s where we make most of our revenue for the entire year, and this year has been very difficult for all small businesses, and so we’ve been depending on this month more than ever before.” he added.

The couple said they filed a police report and KOMO News is waiting for the Seattle Police Department to release more details.

Meanwhile, Emily and Drew said they won’t let their business be ruined by this setback.

“We have so much support and we want to say we are grateful for it,” Emily said.
