Mead and Maanum share joy after win | Interview | News

After a long wait for the Women’s Super League win at the Emirates Stadium, our Gunners played.

Five of our players, including Beth Mead and Frida Maanum, got on the scoresheet in the impressive 5-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.

“I thought we had a good performance in the first half,” Mead said. “I don’t think it was the perfect package for 90 minutes. I thought we let our standards drop a little bit in the second half but scoring five goals and scoring different goals with different strikers (different strikers) is always a good way to go.” to win.”

One of those goals came with a wonderful strike from Maanum, who effortlessly sent the ball into the top corner: “Bayern’s goal (in the UWCL quarter-final) is still a little better, but I still rank it pretty high!”

Unlike last weekend’s dominant performance against Manchester United, which did not result in a win, Mead noted how well we took our chances this time.

“Today we acted coolly, we found positions and scored goals, I think that is the difference between this performance and last week. We played well last week, but unfortunately we were not very cool in front of the goal, I would say we were more ruthless. Today in front of the goal.”

More than 20,000 fans watched the victory, creating another special atmosphere under the lights of the Emirates Stadium.

“It’s amazing. You can hear them throughout the match and it means the whole world to us,” Maanum said. “You can always hear them at the Emirates Stadium, Boreham Wood and away games, it’s great support for us.”
