21-year-old man arrested for latest murder in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham Police say a 21-year-old man from Trussville has been arrested for a homicide that occurred on Nov. 4.

Amauria Caffey was shot and killed in the 1600 block of 5th Street North.

Malik Farris is charged with murder, first-degree theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief.

Police said the burglary and criminal mischief charges stem from Farris’ actions following the shooting on Caffey’s property.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from an argument involving Caffey’s family member and another person earlier that day.

Farris remains in the Jefferson County Jail without bail after surrendering.
