KANSAS CITY, MO. — The Platte County District Attorney’s Office has ruled that the fatal shooting of a man at a Platte County home was justified.

The woman who shot and killed Joshua Hinderliter on Sept. 18 will not face charges, according to a press release from the Platte County District Attorney’s Office on Friday.

Hinderliter was shot after entering the woman’s home and running towards her.

“After carefully reviewing the circumstances of this shooting, it is clear that this woman’s use of deadly force was justified,” Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said in the news release. he said. “The woman was alone at home with her 4-year-old child. While she was alone with her 4-year-old child, a man ran into her house. Luckily, she was able to defend herself, and she and her child were not injured in this terrible incident.”

Hinderliter, an acquaintance of the woman, was on the woman’s property in the 15000 block of Masonic Drive around 9 a.m.

According to Zahnd’s statement, the woman saw Hinderliter, whom she did not know, on her property.

According to the report, Hinderliter had no shirt on and was acting strangely.

He tried to ride a pony, knocking over the pony’s water tank and shocking himself when he caught an electric gate.

Hinderliter became angry and ripped off the door and threw it away, according to the news release.

The woman called her husband, who called 911.

The woman retrieved a gun from a locked gun safe and heard Hinderliter shaking the front door of the home.

The statement also stated that he heard the dog crying and said he was afraid Hinderliter would try to kill the dog.

He walked up to the driveway and she opened the door, told him she had a gun and told him to leave.

Instead of leaving, Hinderliter raised his arms above his head, spoke incoherently, and ran towards the woman.

He shot at her a few times, but she still kept coming.

The woman entered the house and Hinderliter followed her.

He shot her several times before leaving his home and heading to a neighbor’s house, according to the statement.

Hinderliter’s body was inside the house.

“The law allows people to use lethal force to protect themselves or another person from death, serious physical injury or forcible crime,” Zahnd said. “This woman reasonably believed that an unknown man running towards her and entering her home could harm or kill her or her four-year-old child. While Mr. Hinderliter’s death was unfortunate, this woman had every right to defend herself and defend her child.” .”
