Raleigh shooter captured: North Carolina State University student Andrew Thomas Graney charged with shooting near I40

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police arrest North Carolina State University student in connection with a dozen shootings. on or near Interstate 40 in Raleigh this week.

Andrew Thomas Graney, 23, was charged Friday night with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill causing serious injury and shooting into an occupied vehicle or dwelling.

He was detained together with another person. The other person was released and his identity was not released.

Graney is a senior at NC State University majoring in anthropology and has been enrolled at the school since fall 2019, school spokeswoman Lauren Barker said.

He is being held without bail. The court hearing is scheduled for Friday at 1:30pm EST.

Raleigh police are continuing to investigate to find out if more people were involved.
