Motorists warned of delays due to roadworks on the Midland Motorway

Motorists traveling in Prospect and South Launceston are being warned that upcoming overnight roadworks could cause delays of up to 15 minutes.

The work on the Midland Highway is part of State Growth’s annual road maintenance program and will include resurfacing and line marking.

From Sunday to Tuesday, the Launceston-bound Bass Highway/Midland Highway junction ramp at Prospect will be resurfaced.

The ramp will be completely closed every night from 18.00 to 06.30 and crossings will be possible via the Kings Meadows Link.

During the day, the ramp will be open with a reduced speed limit.

At Prospect, the entire ramp will be closed between 6pm and 6.30am each night.

Line marking on the ramp will take place from 12 to 19 November, with occasional lane closures and a reduced speed limit during night hours.

Work on the Hobart and Launceston bound lanes of the Midland Highway between the Bass Highway junction and the Pipeworks Road overpass at South Launceston will begin on Wednesday and is due to be completed a week later.

Lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place from 18:00 to 06:30 during night working hours.

“Whilst we will make every effort to adhere to scheduled work dates, these works are highly weather dependent and subject to change,” a spokesman said.

Please remember to follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs and adhere to posted speed limits.”

“Further resurfacing is planned on other major highways in the state throughout the warmer months with dates to be confirmed.”
