Police said several vehicles were damaged on the A2 motorway in Kent by projectiles likely fired from the catapult.

The damage occurred near Darenth at around 17:50 GMT on Thursday, with police saying the vehicles were struck by objects thrown from an area near the main road.

Ch Insp Will Lay said: “It is fortunate that no one was injured as a result of this incident.

“We initially thought catapults might have been used to launch the projectiles, but we’re keeping an open mind as to how the damage occurred.”
