Authorities say 7th arrest made in $6 million theft in Hammocks HOA fraud scheme – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – A seventh suspect has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident. multimillion dollar theft scheme This depleted the Hammock Homeowners Association’s funds.

Jesus Cue, 63, the HOA’s controller and accountant, faces multiple felony charges including racketeering, illegal compensation and money laundering, according to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.

His company, Worldwide Business Solution Corp. Cue, who served as a business and accounting consultant to the HOA board of directors, is accused of using his position to funnel association funds to fictitious companies and partners, reportedly under the direction of former HOA officials.

Investigators testified that Cue received payments of more than $644,000 during his four years at the HOA, but the association had no reserve funds and needed a $375,000 loan to maintain operations.

Witnesses told investigators that some HOA board members formed fictitious companies to siphon HOA funds and were allegedly affiliated with Cue’s business as registered agents of three of those companies.

Prosecutors said those organizations received payments totaling about $500,000.

“No homeowner needs to worry about how the HOA handles the association’s funds,” State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said in a press release. “Our investigation into the thefts at the Hammocks HOA has shed a bright light on a crime that can occur throughout our state. Those who thought the HOA’s funds would be taken have made a huge mistake. Today’s arrest should make that clear.”

Cue’s arrest follows six othersThey include former HOA board members and vendors accused of fraudulent billing practices; Investigators say they contributed to more than $6 million in total fraud.
