Commanders talk about Russell, TJ and more

Quinn explains how he analyzed the Steelers’ moves right before the trade deadline:
“We start with the roster they have and how they put players in those spots. (Tuesday night), they add individual player clips. Usually it goes there, we look at a particular style of a player and look at other teams because you didn’t see them on your schedule. Preston (Smith) rushed through it.” or Mike (Williams), it’s much easier for a coach to stick to a program than it is for a player to learn that.”

Quinn on quarterback Russell Wilson:
“When I think of Russ, the first thing that comes to mind is that he’s a standout deep ball thrower. That’s something he certainly deserves, and he’s known for his skill both inside and out. The running back is 50 to 60 yards downfield, to a point only his receiver can reach.” .

“To me, that’s what makes him different. He’s got a strong arm and big hands. He can absolutely break it down. He’s got big shooting plays down the field. When those explosive plays happen, they’re game changers.”

“I think that’s Russell’s superpower. His deep-ball accuracy. Not everyone has that.”

Daniels asked if he watches Wilson play much:
“I watch football in general, so I’ve seen Russ pretty much his entire career. I have a lot of respect for him.

“His playmaking ability, he throws the deep ball really well. He’s very accurate. Overall, his leadership and how he treats his players on and off the field is something that stands out.”

Whitt describes the Steelers’ offensive strengths, with quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as weapons:
“Russell is a guy who has been playing on time for a long time. He can get out of the pocket. He doesn’t run as much as he used to. He can still create the ball and take it where he wants. Apart from the numbers, he is a very accurate playmaker.

“Justin is also smart and very athletic. It’s really a complete offense that Arthur (Smith) wants to run. They run first, play action, get the ball down the field and control it.”

Safety Jeremy Chinn on how they prepared for Wilson without much Steelers film on him:
“We’ve got a great game plan. We’ve got to execute it like we’ve been doing the last few weeks. We actually show up, we’re ready to work, and we execute the game plan they’ve got for us. Go for it. It’s that simple.”

Kingsbury on the strengths of the Steelers defense:
“Taking the ball away and creating negative plays. In terms of coverage, man coverage is very sticky when they decide to do that. The pass rush doesn’t give you a lot of room for error. You have to be very precise, stick to the program.”
