A 25-year-old Singaporean student who was stabbed in Brussels in the early hours of Thursday morning has died.

Local police were called to the scene at around 02.30 and found the man stabbed in the abdomen.

The police provided first aid until the emergency services arrived. In the statement made by the Brussels Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, it was stated that the victim was later taken to hospital and died due to his injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Singaporean, who was studying in Belgium, was approached by two young men.

An “argument” later led to the fatal stabbing, authorities said.

Both 18-year-olds were identified as suspects and taken into custody. Their homes were also searched.
