JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thrills. Good food. Great fun…the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Show has something for everyone to enjoy.

Opening night was on Thursday and fairgoers were in full attendance.

Tracy Scott and Zepora Merritt were enjoying date night at the fair.

“We’re having fun. Yeah, we just got fed. I could say that before, right now. No, there’s nothing else to eat right now,” Scott said.

For food, Scott said he likes Philly cheesesteak and fries.

Merritt loaded up on cheese fries.

It wouldn’t be a fair without fun things for kids to do, too. Lisa Thomas, marketing manager for the Jacksonville Fair, said they hired Degler Attractions to manage rides at the fair this year.

“I would say he is the best, if not the best, at Degler,” Thomas said. “I would say it’s the best kids ride. “So there’s lots to do for kids, but we also have a kids’ zone next to our exhibition centre, which is really fun.”

Then there are sea lions. Ivo Silva talked about the Sea Lion Splash exhibition.

“We’re so excited to be here. I can’t wait to see everyone come and watch the show,” Silva said. “You can take photos with them right after the show. It’s like they’re doing the same thing. You’re just approaching the stage. They kiss you.”

The fair has two more years in downtown Jacksonville. It will move to the west coast in 2026.

“We need a lot more space to do a lot more things. We will have an amphitheater that we built there, so we will be music-centric,” Thomas said. “We’re still going to have a fair, but with that huge, beautiful, new amphitheater, we’ll be able to bring a lot of big national acts to the fair.”

The fair is in the city until November 17.
