Only Murders In the Building Season 4 Ending Announced: How Did the Killer Plan the Murder of Sazz Pataki?

The season 4 finale of Only Murders in the Building ended with shocking revelations and unexpected developments. The trio, consisting of Charles, Mabel and Oliver, finally uncovered the identity of Sazz Pataki’s killer. The culprit is revealed to be Marshall P. Pope, who hid his true identity as Rex Bailey, a former stuntman and an old acquaintance of Sazz. Jealous of Sazz’s talent and success in screenwriting, Rex stole his script and posed as a writer to further his career under the pseudonym ‘Marshall’. When Sazz learned of his betrayal and threatened to expose him, Rex planned and executed his murder to protect his deception.

Drawing on his stuntman background, Rex carried out Sazz’s murder with precise timing and skill. He shot her from Arconia’s west building, then quickly dumped her body into an incinerator within the narrow window of 12 minutes, making murder nearly impossible. As the trio pieced together the truth, they confronted Rex, who admitted his guilt but held Mabel hostage and was ready to eliminate all three of them to cover his tracks. But a twist saved them: Jan, the killer from season 1, showed up and shot Rex, ending his life. He had returned to avenge Sazz’s death because they had developed a close relationship before the incident. Events in season 4.

The season wrapped up with a few loose ends tied up and others left open for future exploration. Oliver married Loretta in the Arconia courtyard, but his upcoming project in New Zealand has hinted at a potential long-distance relationship for the newlyweds. Meanwhile, a mysterious woman named Sofia Caccimelio approaches Charles and Mabel with a new case, claiming that her husband’s death has significant ties to Arconia. Although they initially rejected it, the trio discovered a new tragedy; Lester, the doorman of their building, was lying dead in the fountain in the courtyard, which suggested a new mystery for season 5.

The season 4 finale of the series maintained its unique blend of tension and black humor, paving the way for more surprises in the next season. With an unsolved murder, new characters, and the implication that Sofia’s husband’s death is somehow connected to the building, Murders in the Only Building promises to return with more intrigue and drama.
