Five people were injured in a rollover crash after shots were fired at a stolen car in Milwaukee, police say

Several people were injured in a multiple vehicle rollover on Milwaukee’s north side on Wednesday.

Milwaukee police said the shooting happened around 3:23 p.m. at North Sherman Boulevard and West Meinecke Boulevard and was sparked by a driver fleeing from a different vehicle that opened fire.

According to the police statement, the vehicle that escaped from being shot ignored the stop sign and crashed into two other vehicles, causing one of the vehicles to roll over. Police said the driver of the fleeing vehicle fled on foot. A passenger in the vehicle, which was determined to be stolen, was arrested and taken to the hospital.

There were two people in the other two vehicles involved in the accident. All of those passengers were transported to the hospital with non-fatal injuries, police said.

“We have not located any shooting victims at this time,” police said, and the investigation is ongoing.

The driver of the stolen vehicle is not in custody. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 414-935-7360 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 414-224-Tips or using the P3 Tips app.
