The election is over, what can you do with your political yard signs?

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – With Election Day in the rearview mirror, the political signs adorning properties in the Omaha metro will begin to fall.

If you have erected a political yard sign on public property, you are responsible for removing it within seven days of the election.

If you’re looking for ways to get rid of your yard signs, 6 News has yet to find an alternative to sending them to the landfill.

Two organizations Verdis Group And New Makerspace createdThey have redesigned their yard signs in the past, but neither said they would do so this year. In fact, Made New Makerspace told 6 News: There’s still a surplus of yard signs from four years ago.

Not everyone wants to get rid of their yard signs.

Some of those with blue dot signs in their yards said they plan to save them and bring them back out at the next election.

“It’s a good way to take pride in the fact that Omaha is a little different from the rest of Nebraska, and I don’t necessarily mean ‘against the rest of Nebraska,’” Derek Hudson said. “I think it’s very nice of Nebraska to split their vote, and it’s something to be proud of.”

“We are proud of our blue dot,” Norene Stoolman said. “And we don’t want that to change, just like some people want it to change with other votes.”

Group Blue Dot Nebraska This past election cycle, he worked to highlight how Democratic votes could impact Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. This effort even attracted national attention.

The District 2 presidential race went to Democrat Kamala Harris.
