A faithful homage to the original, the new reference exudes vintage appeal, with many of its design elements borrowed from the 60s and 70s. The watch, which is touted as “expedition ready” by its maker, comes with a watch case developed by EPSA; This watch is known for its patented “Super Compressor” technology, which uses deep water pressure to compress the case against its seal.

The matte black dial is paired with a two-tone GMT ring adorned with lume-filled indices and baton-style hands. The watch is also equipped with two crowns, one of which controls the 24-hour bezel and the other for adjusting the watch’s settings.

At the heart of the 36 mm watch is the SOPROD GMT movement with a 42-hour power reserve. Similar to previous redesigns of the Antarctica series, the case back highlights the gold medallion emblem with a penguin, a nod to the model’s heritage.

With prices starting at $1,600, the new Antarctic GMT is available on three different straps, including a “Brass Beads” steel bracelet and brown or black leather straps. In addition, Nivada Grenchen will also release a 99-piece limited edition Tropical version.
