‘People Feed My Emotions in a Positive Way’

CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow clearly Disappointing as Bengals beat Raiders 41-24.

He voiced his opinion on the sidelines and was not shy about making his feelings known in the post-match press conference.

“Maybe my attitude could be a little better sometimes.” Burrow said with a smile. Tuesday afternoon.

Burrow is playing as well as any quarterback in the NFL. He completed 70.2% of his passes for 2,242 yards, 20 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Despite his excellent play, the Bengals started the season 1-4.

Burrow called their matchup with the Raiders a “must-win game,” then took the field and completed his first 15 passes, tying his career high with five touchdown passes, and was still angry after the game.

“Maybe I couldn’t let my emotions come out as much, but it’s also something I’m trying to do more of.” Burrow said. “I know people in the locker room want me to do a little bit more, for better or worse, but you can’t do that. I don’t think I can at least show my emotions in a positive way and not go well, and don’t let that be known.”

Tom Brady played with that emotion, especially after establishing himself as one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. Peyton Manning played with that fire and drive.

Neither of them had any qualms about yelling at their teammates or voicing their displeasure when something wasn’t going their way.

“That’s the standard he has, the standard he sets for the team.” Ja’Marr Chase said. “He hasn’t yet achieved the level of success and greatness he wants to achieve, so he holds himself to those standards.

“That’s always been him. He’s always been the type of guy to hold himself to a standard. Now he’s doing it louder.”

Burrow is clearly more vocal and seems comfortable in the role, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be on short notice every week.

“It’s a give-and-take thing. I know people feed off my emotions in a positive way.” Burrow said. “It’s hard for me, as a quarterback I think I’m playing my best when I’m like that (even angry). I’m not getting up and down, I’m not getting angry and then I’m not happy. I’ll pick the places where I need to say something positive or negative and at the same time I don’t do it to go out there and play great.” I will balance what is necessary.”

Burrow plays absolutely great. The Bengals need to continue this to have a chance to upset the Ravens on Thursday Night Football.
