As the polls closed on Election Day and the results began to be announced, red states were predictably called for the former President Donald Trump and predictably the blue states were called in as Vice President Kamala Harris. Subject: What we’ve seen so far

Team, As polls approach across the country, I wanted to give everyone an update on what we’re seeing. As we have known from the beginning, this is a very tight race. We saw incredible participation from across the Battleground Provinces thanks to this amazing team, and the closeness of the race was exactly what we were preparing for.

As data continued to leak from the Sun Belt states, we knew all along that the clearest path to 270 electoral votes was through the Blue Wall states. And we feel good about what we see.

• In Pennsylvania, we exceeded turnout expectations in Philadelphia and early voting expectations in Bucks County. We don’t have Election Day results from Philadelphia, but we do know that we outperformed turnout expectations there and saw high turnout, especially in places with large populations of people of color and students. We expect to see higher attendance in Philadelphia than in 2020. We currently have limited data on attendance and support outside of Philadelphia, but we are monitoring our expectations. We’re waiting for more results (like everyone else!) and hope to get a more detailed read in the coming hours.

• We expect a significant number of votes to come in in Michigan. The City of Detroit won’t be notified until approximately midnight, but we saw strong turnout here throughout early voting and Election Day. Other results in Michigan are harder to parse because the results come in more piecemeal than in other places.

• In Wisconsin, we know significant votes remain in Dane and Milwaukee counties, and we’re seeing signs of strong performance in WOW counties for which we have partial data. We do not expect to receive full results from Wisconsin between 03.00 and 05.00 tomorrow morning.

Polls have just closed in Nevada and Arizona, and as expected it will be some time before we get more information from either.

We have been saying for weeks that this race cannot be canceled tonight. Those who were around in 2020 know this very well: It takes time for all votes to be counted, and all votes will be counted. This is how our system works. What we do know is that this race won’t come into focus until the early morning hours.
