Milwaukee Elections Commission provides Election Day update

Paulina Gutiérrez, Executive Director Milwaukee The Electoral Commission answered media questions and provided updates on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5.

“We’re seeing a lot of voter registration. Voter registration is long. That’s great to see. I want to remind voters that when you go to register to vote, you must bring a valid photo ID and proof of residence,” Gutierrez said.

As of 8:53 a.m. on Tuesday, The City of Milwaukee Election Commission announced that 106,750 absentee ballots were received out of 113,311 ballots released. That’s a 36 percent decrease compared to the 169,000 absentee ballots received in 2020.

“There are no concerns here. Things are going pretty well at the polling stations. We’re seeing long lines and a lot of activity, so we ask our voters to be patient. I have a hotline staffed by 15 staff who respond to any questions or concerns,” Gutiérrez said. “I’m coming to their place,” he said.
