Bernard Marcus, Co-Founder of Home Depot

New Delhi: co-founder of Home Depot and Bernard ‘Bernie’ Marcus, a Republican megadonor, has passed away at the age of 95. Marcus was an outspoken supporter of former President and Republican 202nd Election candidate Donald Trump.

A CNN report cited an internal memo stating that the billionaire had died. Marcus’ net worth is approximately $7.4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, and he made his fortune by founding The Home Depot. Arthur Blank In 1978.

Bernard ‘Bernie’ Marcus was born in 1929 in Newark, New Jersey, to Russian Jewish immigrants. He was the youngest of four siblings and graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in merchandising and marketing.

He later moved into retail and worked at various chains before founding Home Depot. He served as the company’s CEO until 1997 and served as its president until his retirement in 2002.
