Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra Silva have sold their property in Connecticut, US, after previously announcing plans to move to Spain. The couple sold the mansion located in New Canaan for $10.75 million (approximately Rs 90.4 million) and are reportedly considering settling in Madrid with their two younger sons, Alexander and James. The Connecticut property included two houses, a beautiful six-bedroom main house built in 1938 and a cozy three-bedroom cottage created by renowned architect Harold R Sleeper. There are also 11 bathrooms, a swimming pool, multiple gardens, a natural pond, and even a private waterfall. Before Richard and Alejandra purchased the property two years ago, it was owned by music legend Paul Simon and his wife Edie Brickell.

According to Mansion Global, the Pretty Woman star had purchased the 31.8-acre property from Paul and Edie for $10.8 million (approximately Rs 90.8 crore), so the latest sale came at a slight loss for her. Interestingly, Alejandra had considered turning the land into a farm at one point. The couple had already started raising livestock and enjoyed growing their fruits and vegetables.

Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva have been living in the United States since they got married in 2018. But in an interview with Vanity Fair Spain earlier this year, the veteran star shared his desire to spend more time in Alejandra’s native Spain to be closer to his family.

Richard said: “It will be a great adventure for me to go to Madrid because I have never lived outside the United States full time. I also think it will be very interesting for my children. It will be great for Alejandra to be closer to her family, lifelong friends and culture .He was very generous by giving me the right to live in my world for six years, so I think it’s only fair that I give him at least another six years to live in his. Before moving to Connecticut, Richard Gere lived in a house in the town of Pound Ridge, near New York City. He sold this property in May 2022 for $28 million. Just two months after the sale, the actor purchased the New Canaan property.
