Election security comes first, not just here but at polling places across the country. Most polling places will have extra security to protect voters and poll workers.

quincy one of eight Massachusetts cities where election observers will make sure polling places comply with federal voting rights laws. In addition to Quincy, monitors will be in Everett, Fitchburg, Leominster, Lowell, Malden, Methuen and Salem. They will report any criminal charges, threats of violence against election officials or staff, and election fraud.

Moreover, the FBI has set up a national election command center in Washington, D.C. for this week. This will ensure that the FBI is well positioned to respond to any election security issues that may arise. They will track complaints from more than 50 field offices.

“This command center is an opportunity for us to bring together all the different subject matter experts at headquarters and in the field at the FBI, and bring our partners together so we can go in and address the information, intelligence and threats that are coming in,” said James Barnacle, Deputy Director of the FBI’s Division of Criminal Investigation. “We can distribute the information to key partners, including state and local officials throughout the United States,” he said.

The FBI’s command center will operate until November 9. Complaints about any disruption at a polling place should be reported to local election officials. Any violence or threats should be reported to the police immediately.
