Gold mine causes 3.6 magnitude earthquake east of Bendigo in Victoria

The earthquake occurred at 6:40am, with 22 felt reports recorded on Geoscience Australia.

It was stated that a seismic event caused by a mine was recorded at the Fosterville Gold Mine, located 25 kilometers east of Bendigo.

“FGM is currently reviewing the incident and we will release more details once confirmed,” Fosterville said in a statement.

On November 1, a smaller seismic event of magnitude 2.3 occurred, a spokesman for the mine said.

That event was recorded about 1 kilometer below the surface in the Phoenix area of ​​the mine.
