YTN reports confirmed that a man who kept his father’s body in a freezer for more than a year turned himself in, resulting in a multi-billion divorce lawsuit filed after his father died.

It turned out that the man deceived his stepmother and her lawyer, who filed for divorce, as if his father was alive.

Reporter Shin Gwi-hye reports exclusively.

On the 1st, a man in his 40s surrendered to the police, saying he had kept his father’s body in a freezer for a year.

Mr A told the police that he could not immediately disclose his father’s death due to financial problems.

However, according to YTN’s report, it was learned that A’s father filed a divorce case worth billions of won at the time of his death.

He filed a lawsuit against his wife B for divorce and property division in July 2022, and the decision was approved by the Supreme Court in April this year.

Mr. A stated that his father died in September last year and that the divorce case was still ongoing.

Divorce cases have been filed for more than six months after the person’s death.

In a telephone conversation with YTN, the father’s lawyer explained that he had no idea that his client was dead and said, “When it comes to the case, I mostly communicated with Mr. A.”

B also said that he had never met his wife during the divorce proceedings.

When I asked my stepson A to let me meet my father, he told me that he had made and canceled many appointments, as if he were alive.

(Mr. B/Mr. A’s stepmother: I was waiting for you on the second and first try. Until recently I met the father (who said he would let me). I can meet you, ○○ I live in a flat)

The Supreme Court said, “Divorce cases do not control whether the representative survives if he is duly appointed,” and “The court was in a situation where the situation of A’s father was unknown.”

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the exact time of A’s death, while confirming that A bought a plastic bag to put his father’s body in November last year and did not use it because it was small.

The National Forensic Medicine Service told police that an initial autopsy showed no signs of foul play, including trauma, on the father’s body.
