Voters emphasize the importance of casting their votes before election day

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – It’s election day on Tuesday, and as people flock to the polls, voters in Colorado Springs say they want to make sure they have a say in our nation’s future.

“If you don’t vote, your voice won’t be heard,” Christian Gunning said.

A line of cars formed outside the ballot box at the Citizens Services Center on Sunday as people cast their ballots two days before the 2024 election. The long ballot includes various state ballot measures, statehouse elections, and what’s on everyone’s mind at the top.

Some 11 News spoke with say issues like the economy are at the top of their minds.

“Government spending is the number one issue for me, a lot of people don’t know how much politicians spend,” said Nick Panella. “We can’t build an economy or tax business owners where they can’t grow.”

Some say they are voting for the future.

“I have kids, I want my kids to have a safe place to grow up and feel like they can be a part of our community,” Gunning said.

Regardless of who they voted for, people 11 News spoke with just emphasized the importance of voting.

“A single penny is nothing, but if you have a 5-gallon bucket with 10,000 pennies, it weighs a lot,” Panella said.

“I think elections are important. I’m happy to vote and encourage everyone to vote,” Gunning said.

The deadline to vote is Tuesday at 19:00.

KKTV is on the ballot.
