The Rawlings Gold Glove Awards were announced Sunday night. At least five Arizona Diamondbacks were selected as finalists. But it was Christian Walker who took home the Gold medal as the only winner among D-backs in 2024.

Other D-back finalists included catcher Gabriel Moreno, second baseman Ketel Marte, left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and right fielder Jake McCarthy.

Votes from coaches and coaches (six from each team) account for 75% of the votes. The remaining 25% of the votes come from the SABR Defensive Index, which combines six different defensive rating measures. see this link for Golden Glove Selection Criteria.

Walker achieved +10 Fielding Runs per Stats metric from Baseball Savant and +7 Defensive Runs Recorded from Baseball Reference, Fielding Bible.

Diamondbacks fans have been treated to stellar play from Walker at first base since 2019. Walker achieved this level of excellence by consistently training early every day before games. Walker is a free agent and could possibly sign with another team next year.
