The Prince of Wales will join young environmentalists taking part in the Earthshot Award climate leaders’ youth program in Cape Town.

William will begin a four-day visit to South Africa by meeting some of the 120 future leaders who will be supported to develop leadership, storytelling and networking skills during Earthshot Week.

The future king will travel to South Africa on Wednesday for the Earthshot Award awards ceremony and other related events during the week; The five category winners will each receive £1 million to scale up their plans to “fix” the planet.

On the first official day of the youth program, William will meet with members of the youth program to discuss his experiences working on environmental issues.

“Africa has always had a special place in my heart, as it was where I found comfort in my youth, where I proposed to my wife and most recently as the founding inspiration for the Earthshot Prize,” he said before his visit to South Africa.
