The wedding album sits on my desk, held together with tape and worn bindings. But this is more than a family heirloom. A time capsule of Hollywood’s Golden Age come to life.

The date was June 14, 1959. My mother, rising movie star Barbara Rush, married my father. Warren CowanHe is currently the founder of Hollywood’s leading PR firm Rogers & Cowan. Landlords? Acting as matchmakers for the couple were Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, who opened their Beverly Hills home for the ceremony.

The guest list reads like a frame: Frank Sinatra jokes with Milton Berle; Dean Martin juggles cigarettes and plate of food at the buffet; Ronald Reagan discusses the menu with my mother.

The album came to me My mother’s death last Easter He is 97 years old. My father left us in 2008. But as I leaf through these yellowed pages, I am struck by the vivid lives captured within. Before I was even a possibility, my family was surrounded by creative, talented friends eager to be a part of their special day.

I’m sharing these never-before-seen photos because they can only stay in our hearts by remembering those we’ve lost, loved and adored.
