HGTV ‘The House on a Heartbeat’ Star Galey Alix Addresses Dramatic Show Exit

HGTV star and TikTok sensation Galey Alix announced that he will not be participating in the second season of his hit show Your Home in a Heartbeat because he didn’t think he could “survive”.

Self-taught home designer who rose to fame by sharing her 72-hour renovation on TikTok spoke People On the decision to “shut down” filming on Season 2 of the HGTV series. Despite her on-screen positivity and go-getter attitude, Alix admitted that her “nervous system completely shut down” during filming.

“At the end of the show I realized I had no nervous system; “I am a nervous system,” he said. “We would sometimes stay up for 86 hours while the cameras were rolling, going up and down stairs, installing drywall, lighting, recessed wallpaper.”

“And then on top of that, I also host, I also produce, I’m a contractor slash designer slash day laborer,” he continued. “I was wearing too many hats. And my whole body was literally rotting before my eyes.

Your Home in a Heartbeat Released in April 2023, the film saw Alix and her team work relentlessly for hours to transform homeowners’ properties in just a few days. The Florida native remained optimistic on camera, but said the mental and physical toll became a struggle behind the scenes.

Ultimately, Alix realized she “couldn’t survive” filming another season, saying: “I couldn’t stand it. It got to the point where I don’t think I could survive Season 2. I can’t.” Your Home in a Heartbeat Because my heart will stop beating.”

Alix, a former banker who worked at Goldman Sachs, said she doesn’t blame HGTV for her situation. As someone diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and a self-described “perfectionist,” Alix admitted, “She sets herself up for failure by taking on too much at once and setting unrealistic expectations.

Although Alix has ended her HGTV series, she doesn’t plan on giving up her home design career and continues to share tricks and tips on her TikTok channel. He’s also not opposed to making another TV show, but has stated that he would handle the situation differently.

“I have a lot of useful ideas, but whatever I do, it will be more fluid,” he explained. “There’s really nothing like what we’ve done. This has really affected my mental health and the mental health of my entire team.”
