Carol Vorderman’s son Cameron couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at his mum’s maths skills in the first episode of Romesh Ranganathan’s new quiz show Parents’ Evening.

In the new quiz show, celebrities join forces with their relatives as they have to guess how many general knowledge questions their adult children or parents will answer correctly to win money for charity. The competition is run by Romesh’s mother Shanthi, 46.

Saturday’s lineup included 63-year-old Carol and her son Cameron, Alison Hammond with her son Aidan, and Iain Stirling with his mother Alison.

One of the questions asked Saturday night was listing relationship statuses according to Facebook. However, Carol was stunned by the question, “I don’t use Facebook. So how many relationship statuses can you actually have, married, single,” and an alarm suddenly went off in the studio. A red light flashed on the screen.

Presenter Romesh quickly chimed in: “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, okay. Carol, the point of the game isn’t to suddenly start shouting out the answers,” he says. Mirror.

“Carol, I’m so sorry but we’re having to deduct £200 from your total and remove these answers from the tour.”

Confused, Carol replied: “You’re cutting the money!” Alison clarified: “Yes, £200!” Leading Carol to quip: “We’ll be left with nothing!”.

Carol’s son Cameron was quick to take a cheeky swipe at his maths expert mum, quipping: “Yes mum, that’s how numbers work!” Romesh put his hand over his own mouth as the audience started laughing.

Vanessa Feltz will take over Carol’s Sunday slot on LBC permanently. Former Countdown star Carol said she would not be continuing her radio show last month after suffering “burnout” from the seven-day working week.

Vanessa, 62, joined LBC in May and offers insight, analysis and insight into what matters to the British public in a Saturday afternoon programme.

He said: “I can’t wait to make a weekend appointment to listen. I look forward to having Britain’s biggest and most exciting conversation with my lovely LBC listeners every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.”
