No one was injured in vehicle fire at Ontonagon Regional High School

ONTONAGON, Mich. (WLUC) – No one was injured in a minivan fire at Ontonagon Regional High School.

The Ontonagon Volunteer Fire Department said it was called to the high school around 5:45 p.m.

One firefighter was already at the school for the Halloween carnival, according to the department. They grabbed the fire extinguisher and ran to the van.

Other firefighters living nearby also responded and helped control the smoke, the department said.

When the engine came to 18, firefighters said there was very little smoke coming out of the minivan as they disconnected the battery from the vehicle.

According to the ministry, the left rear panel of the minibus was dismantled to ensure there was no fire and that the fire was completely extinguished.

Fire crews said they cleared the scene 30 minutes later.

Dishaw Towing was contacted to remove the minivan from the car park.

“Quick interventions prevented multiple vehicles from catching fire and minimized the damage to the vehicle involved,” the fire department said.
